The Unley High School redevelopment has radically transformed the existing school through a series of new build and refurbishment interventions to accommodate the transition of Year 7 students and introduce a new range of contemporary learning settings. Underpinned by a new 3 level ‘Learning Incubator” accommodating 3,850sqm of flexible learning environments, internal spaces are characterised by extensively glazing with inter-connectivity through sliding doors and access to a central learning commons. Disciplinary areas for Home Economics, Commercial Kitchen/Café, Design Technology and Art/Digital Design are combined with General Learning Settings to facilitate hands-on project work and STEM activities. Linkages to outdoor learning are created via a new 500sqm covered canopy to build identity and social cohesion around a new ‘Unley Square’, whilst allowing seating for up to 280 students.
