The Operations Centre for the City of Salisbury is located on Cross Keys Road, Salisbury South. This project required an extensive understanding of the whole site (approx. 39,000sqm). The existing Operations Centre, prior to the extension and refurbishment did not meet the requirements or functional planning appropriate for a united work place. The City of Salisbury, alongside Thomson Rossi completed a number of workshops with their staff to fully understand and appreciate the council staff’s expectations and desires for the new space to ensure a safe and functional layout was provided. It was critical for the City of Salisbury that the new facility amalgamated the staff from all sections. The facility had to cater for an influx of staff (150-200 people) at peak periods but also ensure equal integration with the full time onsite staff. This was achieved by providing a direct visual and physical connection from the entrance (both visitor and staff) to the open plan workstations, muster rooms / meeting rooms and the mechanical workshop. This connection aims to unite the staff together, as one Council team, rather than scattered in small rooms, work huts and the alike.
